Past Productions

Bilston Operatic Company has staged a total of 99 productions since 1927, the first being The Pirates of Penzance at Bilston Theatre Royal. Since that date the venue at which the company has appeared most regularly is the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre having been host to 60 individual productions. Following the Grand is the Bilston Theatre Royal which saw 30 productions and the Wulfrun Hall with three and one at Willenhall Leisure Centre, Carousel, in 1998.

Since 1927 there have only been five years with no Bilston Operatic Company shows; 1934, 1940, 1980, 2020 and 2021. There have been three years with more than one show (not including Youth Company productions); The Pirates of Penzance and Trial by Jury at Bilston Theatre Royal during the first year, in 1983 which saw Me and My Girl at the Wulfrun Hall and Kiss Me Kate at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, and in 2022 they performed two shows at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre within the same year, Kinky Boots and Peter Pan.

The highest number of times the same musical has been produced by the company is three, which has happened four times with Annie (1985, 1994 and 2013), Hello Dolly (1979, 1999 and 2012), Oklahoma (1957, 1958 and 1970) and My Fair Lady (1977, 1993 and 2019). Nineteen shows have been presented on at least two occasions including Carousel (1988 and 1998), Fiddler on the Roof (1972 and 1997), and The King and I (1996 and 2009). Forty-nine musicals have been staged only once… so far!
